Should We Listen?

When credible voices raise the same (déjà vu?) warning over a span of three-hundred plus years, should we take time to listen and investigate?

Are we reaping the consequences for not listening?

Note: As we pursue truth in a world filled with errors and deceptions, all of us have mistaken beliefs or opinions in various degrees, thus it takes some discipline to not throw the baby out with the bathwater when we find ourselves offended. So concerning some possible interpretations of points 8 and 9 of the above presentation, remember how displeased the Lord was with Miriam and Aaron for criticizing Moses’ marriage to an Ethiopian woman (Old Testament | Numbers 12:1-15). So if we reject everything a person says upon discovering something we perceive to be in error, we drastically limit the possibility of finding truth. Perhaps the best solution when confronting opinions and interpretations that offend is to peaceably stand for justice and equity. Most times, seeking truth seems like a “mining” operation where nuggets are chipped out from surrounding debris. We learn as we go—hopefully open, in all things, to God’s justice and equity, however disrupting this might be to our own beliefs and biases.
And also remember God’s words:
New Testament | John 3:16 ~ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
New Testament | 1 Timothy 2:4 ~ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 26:33 ~ … for [the Lord] doeth that which is good among the children of men; and he doeth nothing save it be plain unto the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 2:9 ~ Wherefore, he is the firstfruits unto God, inasmuch as he shall make intercession for all the children of men; and they that believe in him shall be saved.
Book of Mormon | Moroni 7:34 ~ And he hath said: Repent all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me, and be baptized in my name, and have faith in me, that ye may be saved.
